silk button down $80 (wearing an XS)
My obsession with silk button downs began back when I was in 23, circa 2015. It all started when I watched this show on Netflix, called The Fall, and the main character was a bad-ass, yet extremely stylish detective (played by Gillian Andersen who is a total babe!) who was hired to catch a woman-killing psychopath. I used to love detective shows, now I can’t deal with scary shows anymore, sometimes even Euphoria became too heavy and dark . Anyways, so, n the show “The Fall” the main character was always wearing silk button downs and there was something so powerful and sexy about the look. Her style became the best part of the show/ I mean she would be eating take out on her hotel bed at 3 in the morning, wearing a perfectly steamed silk shirt, or walk onto a bloody crime scene in the middle of the night, wearing a perfectly steamed silk shirt. And it was everything! It’s crazy how certain things stick with us forever, and Gillian Andersen’s exquisite style definitely made me want to invest in my own sophisticated version of her silky shirts. Fast forward to today, and I own 6 of these silky button down shirts and they are a staple item in my wardrobe, especially during this quarantine period when I am forcing myself not to wear sweats all day. Next time you are on a Zoom call with your boss or colleagues, dress in this silky button down (pants not required!) and you will shine like a powerful boss lady on that screen. My favorites are the light pink, crisp white, and camel. (click here to see all the colors!)
